Holidays 2010 minus New Years

Over the past month, my life became quite busy between the Thanksgiving holiday, school/finals and Christmas, which did not leave me much time to write.  Though, I can't forget to mention that being a new aunt and trying to capture every moment of Jacob's life has taken up a big chunk (all) of my spare time. So without further adieu: My Holiday Season.

Thanksgiving
As usual, my family headed over to our friend's, the Zener's, house for the annual LanZen Thanksgiving Celebration, where delicious food was consumed and unforgettable memories were made. This year, like most years, we invited new friends to join us but the most exciting event of the evening was that my nephew (4 days old) was able to join in the fun for a few hours. Thanksgiving always comes at that perfect time of the year, right before finals, and provides a break from the mental strain school brings.

Winter Break 2010
I finished off my second to last semester of classes up at NAU and lets just say I AM SO READY TO BE DONE. Nothing exciting is happening up north, just doing rotations and taking classes. After I finished up with finals I came home for the winter break where I have spent great time with friends and family and am ready for some more great times to come. The first Saturday of break I did a santa bar crawl called Santarchy and lets just say it was a good time.

 Christmas
We did our annual LanZen Fondue X-mas eve dinner which is a great time and too hard to explain. Photos don't do the memories justice. For the first time in years, we were able to capture a full LanZen Family photo. As for Christmas day, we did a small Christmas celebration with delicious food and some movies.

A Brand New Nephew

For the past 9 months I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of my nephew, Jacob Brady Kasel, and at last he has finally arrived. I got the call at around 2 o'clock Sunday, November 21, 2010 to come to the hospital.

Finally, at 6:15am Jacob was born at 6 lbs 14 oz and 21 inches long. He did have trouble breathing at first because the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck THREE times (very rare) and he aspirated some fluid that filled his lungs. He had to be taken to the NICU where they preceded to suction out the fluid.

After 4 hours we were able to meet the little bugger, and he continues to get stronger each day, though still has a weak cry and weak lungs. He will be going home tomorrow and I cannot wait to watch him grow up! I am officially in love with my nephew!

Wedding Filled Weekend

November has been one crazy and busy month so far, and it's only going to get better! The past two weekends have been spent with my friend Beki; including her bachelorette party and her wedding. She is the first of my friends who have gotten married and it's a little scary to think that 9 years ago when we meet we were both just scrawny little freshmans in high school and now one of us is married. Although it's taken me about till now to recover from both weekends, it was fully worth getting to spend my friend's most special day with her.

The bachelorette party took place out in Glendale, Arizona in the Glendale Arena mall area. It was a great time spent with great friends.
Oh Beki
Love my friend!

Her wedding was simply beautiful! It took place out in Mesa at a place called Villa Tuscana and the colors she picked out were beautiful!

Halloween and Homecoming Weekend.

Last year during Homecoming, I had to work but not this year. I was able to spend the weekend celebrating with friends! It was a great homecoming/Halloween weekend. Friday night was spent celebrating Halloween at a local bar. I dressed as Mary from Something About Mary. If you don't get it google it. It will make sense! Then on Saturday I woke up at 8am after getting 4 hours of sleep to head to the bars for Tequila Sunrise with some of my Speech Friends! Last year we made LumberDrunk Shirts and I actually got to wear mine! It was a long and exhausting weekend, but a good one at that. Here are some classic photos!

A New Leaf

Over the weekend, my wonderful parents got me an early Christmas/graduation/birthday present. It is a Canon EOS Rebel T2i Digital SLR camera, and I have decided that with this amazing of a camera I'm going to start an adventure. My goal is to take at least 1 photo a day of anything. I know this sounds crazy, but with winter fast approaching I'm going to need something to take my mind off school even if just for a moment. Hopefully I will have some great photos in the near future.

Now as for the past:

After my return from Iowa, I ventured off on a ten hour drive to visit a friend in Denver, Colorado. It was a five day fun-filled packed weekend that consisted of: baseball (Colorado Rockies Game), animals (Denver Zoo), mountains (hiking in Breckenridge), and downtown Denver! I had the best time and cannot wait to go back, this time hopefully during the winter months for some skiing.
